Glove box selection guidelines

A glove box is a sealed enclosure that is designed to allow people to perform tasks or experiments on materials or substances that may be hazardous, reactive, or toxic, without exposing the operator to these materials. Glove boxes are commonly used in a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, chemical processing, nuclear energy, and research and development.

There are several factors to consider when selecting a glove box, including:

  • The type of materials or substances that will be handled: Different glove boxes may be required for handling different types of materials, such as gases, liquids, or solids.
  • The level of containment required: Some glove boxes are designed for low-level containment, while others are designed for high-level containment, which is necessary for handling highly toxic or hazardous materials.
  • The size and dimensions of the glove box: The size and dimensions of the glove box should be sufficient to accommodate the materials and equipment that will be used inside.
  • The type of gloves that will be used: Different glove boxes may be equipped with different types of gloves, such as neoprene or nitrile gloves, which are suitable for handling different types of materials.
  • The type of ventilation or filtration system: Some glove boxes may be equipped with a ventilation or filtration system to help control the internal environment and protect the operator from exposure to hazardous materials.
  • The intended use and application: Different glove boxes may be designed for specific applications, such as handling radioactive materials or performing chemical reactions.

Some common applications of glove boxes include:

  • Handling hazardous materials: Glove boxes are commonly used to handle hazardous materials, such as chemicals, radioactive substances, and biological agents, in a controlled environment.
  • Performing chemical reactions: Glove boxes are often used to perform chemical reactions in a controlled environment, to prevent contamination or exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Handling and processing materials: Glove boxes are commonly used to handle and process materials, such as pharmaceuticals, in a sterile environment.
  • Conducting research and development: Glove boxes are frequently used in research and development to test and experiment with materials in a controlled environment.
  • Manufacturing and production: Glove boxes are often used in the manufacturing and production of products that require a controlled environment, such as electronics or medical devices

We offer complete standalone glove box integrated with entire functional components. They are able to create an inert environment with less than 1 ppm of H2O and O2.  The systems are modulated with antechambers, removable windows, adjustable trays, lighting units, adjustable shelves, and gloves, which meet most of the operational needs in the glovebox. The systems are made of welded stainless steel and are equipped with highest-quality components.  The custom option of gloveboxes provides the flexibility for users to design unique gloveboxes according to their applications.  Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at sales at auroraprosci dot com.
